Client letters are an absolute master piece of your ability to wordsmith and explain it like no other.
The law is complex and your client usually knows that and they have come to you to help them understand.
In this workshop, we will work through 5 key things that make a client letter great and give you comfort in putting your explanation to paper. A good client letter can make or break your lawyer-client relationship so exercising those letter writing muscles can reap amazing rewards for your ongoing enjoyment rating in law.
We often feel stuck when we don’t know what we want. It’s important to spend time to self reflect and get in touch with our talents, passions, strengths, weaknesses, what did and didn't work, and our goals and discovering our "why" as lawyers.
NETWORK with others – take time to network and continue to build it.
SPEAK OUT – if you are interested in an area of law, want more experience with drafting affidavits, or progressing further in your career, want to attend a meeting with your supervisor so that you can gain first hand insight into that client meeting or a attend a court session with your supervisor so get that exposure, then you need to make that known to your supervisor/manager.
MENTOR others – this is a great way to hone your own skills.
TRAINING – Don't just wait until you are asked to attend a conference or training session. If there is something that interests you and will help you be better in practice – just ask.
Be proactive and put more thought into how you spend your time and energy.
Come and be a part of HELLO LAW where all the above (and more) is spoken about, practised and workshopped.
It is OK to:
🌿 ask for help
🌿 have to find motivation some days
🌿 have bad days
🌿 take some time out
What IS NOT OK is to:
🚫 feel like you are on you’re own
🚫 feel like no one cares
🚫 feel like it’s just you going through a "not so positive" experience
🚫 feel like it's only you that has bad days
🚫 feel like a failure
HELLO LAW is a safe, encouraging, supportive & weapon group of law graduates, law students, junior lawyers & more that you can turn to on those days that you need answers to some of those questions that keep spinning around in your head, to pick someone’s brain about their choices and steps they have made in their career or just to have a conversation about your journey in law.
As a law student, law graduate or junior lawyer, you can feel submerged in a lot of "unknown".
HELLO LAW brings connections to help you form YOUR TRIBE.
You can utilise the Squad Only app as the foundation to create connections, regular communications, sharing of ideas, knowledge, resources etc, create your own individual connections. The Squad only app also enables members to branch out with other Squad members to continue the support and encouragement of one another. Who doesn't love a connection where you can simple pick up the phone and ask "can I pick your brain please?"
If you are still a bit reserved, you can simply sit back and observe, knowing that the support is right at your fingertips whenever you need.
We all need a TRIBE when travelling on our own individual law journey.
You have to get up every morning and tell yourself “ I can do this”.
Try not to compare yourself to others – we are all on our own journey and on our own path to make it work for ourselves.
Nobody has it all figured out (even the ones that look like they do).
You don’t need to know it all right now.
Having a community like HELLO LAW will help you in those “not so good” times in your law journey.
Take pride in each step you take – remember your “one day” can and will turn into “day one” – you just have to keep persevering and surround your self with “your people”…and here at HELLO LAW, we are “your people”.
Great things take time to build, so don't rush it – if you are starting your law degree or about to finish it, if you are starting your Practical Legal Training or about to finish it, or if you have just scored your first job as a junior lawyer…..
